Our Story
The Malaysian Anatomical Association (MAA) traces its origin from an anatomical conference organised by anatomists from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Kubang Kerian, in October 2003, when there was no formal national body representing anatomists in Malaysia. A decade later, renewed momentum led to the formation of a pro tem committee in June 2013, followed by the establishment of an ad hoc committee comprising seven members to initiate the Association. This led to the first general meeting held on 21 September 2013, where the inaugural MAA Committee Members was elected under the presidency of Professor Dr Nasaruddin Abdul Aziz (2013–2015).
Since its establishment, MAA has organised several scientific meetings and conferences to support anatomical education and research. Notably, the Malaysian Anatomical Association Conference (MAAC) has attracted participation from both local and international communities, contributing to the growing regional and global engagement of the Association. MAA continues to serve as a platform for collaboration, education, and professional development in the anatomical sciences.
The Association’s logo, designed by Muhammad Amin Ahmad Zaki, was introduced in 2014, establishing its official identity.
